Janet E. Zaharchuk brings more than 35 years of experience in education to her writing. Throughout her career, she has focused on helping children grow not only academically, but emotionally as well. Kindness, empathy, and respect are at the heart of her teaching, and they shine through in this story.

Janet lives in the village of Belfountain, Ontario, with her husband. She is a proud mother of two daughters and a devoted grandmother. Surrounded by family and nature, she continues to write stories that encourage children to care for the world and the creatures within it.

The idea for the book came from a deeply personal moment: the birth of her first grandson at home. The joy and wonder of that experience inspired her to write a story that reflects the special bond between children and their grandparents, and the magic of seeing the world through a child’s eyes
